أن تشق امرأة طريقها نحو النجاح ليس بالأمر السهل، فكيف إذا كانت أمًا لأربع بنات، تعيش في بلد جديد، لغةً وثقافةً وعادات مختلفة تمامًا عمّا اعتادت عليه في موطنها الأصلي كندا؟
لورين نقولا (38 عامًا)، زوجة لجول نقولا من معليا، الذي عاد مع والديه بعد سنوات طويلة في الولايات المتحدة، وجدت نفسها أمام تحديات جمّة منذ قدومها إلى البلدة قبل أكثر من عشر سنوات. لم تكن تتقن العربية سوى بمستوى المحادثة البسيطة، ولم تكن ملمة بالقراءة والكتابة، الأمر الذي زاد صعوبة اندماجها وتأقلمها.
مع ذلك، وبين مسؤوليات الأمومة ورعاية أربع بنات، لم تسمح لورين لليأس أن يتسلل إليها. عملت في عدة أماكن لمساندة زوجها، لكنها في النهاية اتخذت قرارًا بالتركيز على أسرتها، لتبدأ من هناك رحلة جديدة. خلال بقائها في المنزل، التحقت بدورات متعددة في مجال التجميل النسائي وبناء الأظافر، لتكتسب خبرة ومعرفة فتحت أمامها بابًا جديدًا للحياة المهنية.
اليوم، تقف لورين بكل فخر خلف مشروعها الخاص Lolos Nail Lounge في معليا، وهو معهد متخصّص في بناء وتجميل الأظافر ومعالجة مشاكلها الطبية، وقد نجحت رغم عائق اللغة في استقطاب زبائن من البلدة وخارجها بفضل جديتها وإصرارها.
ولم يقتصر عطاؤها على الجانب التجاري فقط، إذ خصصت وقتًا لمعالجة مشاكل الأظافر لكبار السن مجانًا، سواء في المؤسسات الطبية أو حتى في بيوتهم إذا تعذر عليهم الوصول إليها.
وعن سر نجاحها تقول لورين:
“رغم كل الصعاب، وجدت دائمًا زوجًا داعمًا، وعائلة محبة، ومجتمعًا رائعًا. ومع الإرادة والإصرار، تمكنت من شق طريقي نحو هدفي. شكرًا جزيلًا لكل من وقف إلى جانبي.”

Lauren Nicola – A Story of Determination and Success from Canada to Mi’ilya
For a woman to carve her way toward success is never easy—how much more so when she is a mother of four daughters, living in a new country with a language, culture, and traditions completely different from what she knew in her homeland, Canada?
Lauren Nicola (38), wife of Joul Nicola from Mi’ilya—who returned with his parents after many years in the United States—found herself facing countless challenges when she arrived in the village more than ten years ago. She only spoke Arabic at a basic conversational level and was not proficient in reading or writing, which made integration and adaptation even more difficult.
Still, between the responsibilities of motherhood and raising four daughters, Lauren never allowed despair to creep in. She worked in several places to support her husband, but eventually decided to focus on her family, and from there a new journey began. While staying at home, she enrolled in various courses in women’s beauty and nail care, gaining expertise and knowledge that opened the door to a new professional life.
Today, Lauren proudly stands behind her own project—Lolos Nail Lounge in Mi’ilya—a specialized institute for nail building, beauty, and treatment of medical nail issues. Despite the language barrier, she succeeded in attracting clients from the village and beyond thanks to her seriousness and determination.
Her contribution, however, did not stop at the business level. She dedicated time to providing free nail treatments for the elderly, whether in medical institutions or even in their homes if they were unable to reach her.
When asked about the secret to her success, Lauren says:
“Despite all the difficulties, I always found a supportive husband, a loving family, and a wonderful community. With willpower and determination, I was able to pave my way toward my goal. I am deeply grateful to everyone who stood by me.”
